Carving an end panel on a Gothic Revival votive shrine to the Blessed Virgin Mary. The flower in the center of the quatrefoil is a stylized "Star of Bethlehem" - a small wildflower common in our part of Ohio. The statue that will be placed on this altar is the Blessed Mother holding the Christ Child. The Star of Bethlehem seemed appropriate... Everything on this shrine gets painted to match the existing altars in the church. That's why this is being built and carved out of poplar. More videos on this project will be coming soon as well as a full gallery when the project is done.
This one-minute video represents the better part of a days' work in the shop.
